The Clayton Fishing Guides Association is dedicated to more than just world-class angling; we are committed to the health of the St. Lawrence River and the well-being of the 1000 Islands community. Through 2026, our members continue to lead initiatives that support veterans, educate the next generation of anglers, and preserve our natural resources.
Supporting Our Heroes
- Troopers Assisting Troops (TAT) Annual Event: Our premier community activity involves hosting approximately 100 active-duty and retired soldiers, primarily from nearby Fort Drum.
- A Day on the Water: Guides provide a full day of professional charter fishing across all branches of service, culminating in a traditional St. Lawrence Shore Dinner to honor their service.
Environmental Stewardship
- River Conservation: We work closely with organizations like the Thousand Islands Association (TIA) to support river safety and conservation efforts.
- Sustainability Practices: Our guides strictly follow “Catch and Release” principles for sensitive species to ensure the St. Lawrence remains a top-tier fishing destination for future generations.
- Clean-Up Initiatives: Members participate in annual river clean-up days to remove debris and protect local aquatic habitats.
Youth & Community Education
- Educational Charters: We offer family-friendly charters designed to teach children and beginners the art of fishing, emphasizing ethics, sportsmanship, and science-based conservation.
- Local Event Participation: The association remains active in Clayton’s community events, providing advice and expertise at local gatherings and through the Clayton Chamber of Commerce.
